Nur 5 Wochen nach den Europameisterschaften ging es für eine kleine Marathondelegation des LC Regensdorf wieder zurück auf das heisse Pflaster von Berlin! Bereits zum Dritten Mal nach 2015 und 2017 versuchte Arlette Meier-Hunger beim Berlin Marathon ihre im letzten Jahr an gleicher Stelle gelaufene PB zu verbessern.
Melanie Fuchs-Böllenrücher startete bereits am Samstag mit den Inline-Skates. Leider stürzte sie aber bereits nach 6km heftig und konnte das Rennen erst nach einer längeren Pause fortsetzen. Wenigstens konnte sie sich so einen der begehrten Lauf-Startplätze für den Marathon 2019 sichern.
Bei wunderschönem Wetter und warmen Temperaturen starteten am Sonntag über 44‘000 Teilnehmer zum grossangekündigtem Weltrekordversuch. Dieser gelang Eliud Kipchoge auch tatsächlich in unglaublichen 2:01‘39h!
Zu diesem Zeitpunkt lief Arlette nach einer sehr regelmässigen ersten Hälfte in 1:26.56h in Richtung 30km-Marke. Doch leider war schon klar, dass heute die PB ausser Reichweite lag!
Die Temperaturen waren zwar einiges angenehmer als beim EM-Marathon, aber je näher der Mittag kam, desto durstiger wurde das Laufen. Wenigstens konnte Arlette wieder auf eine ausgeklügelte Verpflegungsorganisation zählen und so die 42.195km in einer Zeit von 2:57.28h auf dem ausgezeichneten 15. Rang ihrer Alterskategorie finishen.
